Time For a New Site!

computer nerd

I guess this is my first entry on my site... Woohoo!! I realized that my career is now taking a turn from animation to Web & UI Design. Unforunately, I felt that my website didn't really reflect that. Sure, I had some design and work samples on my (small) gallery, but it wasn't enough. Especially since Flash is a fading platform, it needed to change. I wanted to get something that was viewable from any device, and still looked awesome. (At least in my eyes... I am my own toughest critic afterall) These days with CSS3 and HTML5, you could do some really beautiful stuff. There are tons of available options for animation on a web page as well.

Well, on Friday I was determined to get started. Especially since I knew that my current gig/contract was coming to an end, and that I wanted to pursue this field. After doing some research and searching through tons of site templates, finally got one that had everything I wanted. It even transforms its layout and design dynamically according to your screen size. Thank God for themeforest! All this awesome Java functionality is way over my head. Some day soon I would love to get some training for Java...

After constantly sitting at my computer all weekend and Monday as well, I am very very happy with how it turned out. It was totally worth the back aches that I have now, and maybe a couple pounds that I put on. No worries though, I'll be sure to do some Yoga and start working out again asap. Some of my favorite parts of the site are: the subtle overlay of my logo in the background, the ShareThis ShareEgg, and the very handy contact form. Hope you all like it as much as I do.

My Last Day @SemanticBits...

SemanticBits Logo

As I write this, I am preparing to leave on my last day of a wonderful 3 months. Semanticbits was an awesome learning experience for me and the people were even better. I will definitely miss it, and can only hope that my next gig (hopefully permanent this time) is just as good.

And with that, I'm going to leave you with my farewell note to the company... So long SemanticBits and thank you...

"Well, the time has come for me to make my depart. It has been a wonderful 3 months working with you all, and a great learning experience for my career. I will definitely miss it here, and our little SB family, and all the delicious food we shared together. I have most of you on LinkedIn already. If not, please feel free to look for me on LinkedIn or even Facebook.

I wish the best of luck for all of you, and I will definitely be in touch every now and then.

Most of you know that I am a big Chicago Bulls fan. Tough break for them this year, but if they win next year, I will definitely be doing a BBQ at my place and will make sure that you guys are invited for a celebration for those who are interested :)

And I, your Chi-town native, leave you with this wonderful video to remember me by, from another Chicago native.

Thank you and take care! Derrick Rose Tribute"
